Fiber! And I’m Not Talking About the Dietary Kind!

I have an announcement for you guys, today!  I was recently invited to design for Really Reasonable Ribbon and today is the big reveal!  I’m so excited about this opportunity – having the chance to work with the beautiful and varied selection of fibers RRR carries, learning new ways to use them, sharing inspiration with their very experienced designers, and getting to know their audience better!  I just received a shipment of fibers from them, and oh, I could just fondle them all day long haha!  Weird, but true! They have a very active site, and I’m looking forward to all the challenges to come as I collaborate with them!  A precious opportunity to share my love of craft and its potential to cultivate spirit – woo hoo!

In other news, I have a Halloween project I just completed this week that is very mixed media, totally inspired by nature, and in line with the organic effects that lately have made my heart sing!  You’ll get to see a full reveal at PaperHaus Magazine this coming Sunday, and a stepped out tutorial at Hampton Art the following Friday, so keep your eyes peeled.  Little detail to titillate!

OutForPublicationI’ve been playing around with hot glue a lot lately and am having a ball!  Especially excited that this project came together nicely despite my distaste for Halloween!  The brash combinations of orange, purple and green that are running rampant in Halloween crafts this season?  You won’t see any of those in this one!  But I’ll give you a hint – it’s all about nature and the heart stopping drama to be found right in your backyard!  Can’t wait to share it with y’all!

A few really incredible opportunities have popped into my lap recently, so when Hubby returned home a few days ago, we decided to celebrate all the crafty developments at a great restaurant in the Paris Hotel and Casino called, “Mon Ami Gabi.”  From our table on their patio, we had a great view of the fountains at the Venetian and could people watch all the tourists without getting stuck amongst all the crowds. The weather was fresh and crisp, and sitting across from my sweet, supportive man, the warmth of gratitude coursed through my veins.  Life is so good!  We rarely venture onto the strip, so this was an extra special treat.

These scallops were so delectable that we had serious difficulty resisting the urge to lick our dishes clean.  As a compromise, we did wipe up all the juice with our baguettes – yes we are civilized people haha! I slurped up these babies below!

J loves these salads where you pop the poached egg and let the golden yumminess drizzle all over your greens.

I’m starting to like them, too!  Then one of the big hits of the night came with this wonderfully creamy side of pureed cauliflower in the front.

I have no doubt there were some fatty goodies thrown into the mix in order to make it taste that good.  After one bite, J said, “Hunni, I want that.  Can you make that for me?”  Gladly – time to locate a good recipe.  And so, that meal set me back a few notches in my weight-loss goals, but you know, the experience was totally worth it!

Whelp, my mind is racing with new ideas.  A new technique video on my recent Halloween projects will be ready for your viewing pleasure this Sunday.  And after that, you can expect that video I mentioned earlier in which I use my mouth!  Can’t wait to share that one with you.

Until next time, happy crafting!

  1. Welcome to the Really Reasonable Ribbon design team Vivian. We are thrilled to have you on board. That’s looks like quite a celebratory dinner too. How nice to have such a supportive hubby!

  2. I am so excited for you! This is such great news. And what a dinner. I want my hubby to take me to something like this… Ok without the scallops, and oysters, and runny egg, but still!
