To help get you inspired and ready for the new dies to hit the store shelves, the Sizzix design team has lined up a wide array of projects! Several times a week throughout the month Sizzix will be sharing a link to one of the designer’s blogs featuring a fabulous project showcasing the new dies. I am featured today with a home decor project to share.
As you may know, the Tattered Florals are hugely popular for many reasons, one being that they are useful for papercrafting throughout the whole year – my papercrafter’s heart is all aflutter! Since I am madly getting our home ready for Christmas Day with 20+ inlaws, I am in a holiday decorating frenzy, and decided to use the dies for a holiday wreath.
I used the Jumbo Tattered Florals #659441 die for my large focal points, these festive blossoms. This die is of the Bigz type, folks, so imagine all the possibilities with thick papers, fabric, felt, metal, upcycled corrugate.
For mine, I used a fun mix of Core’dinations Core Amour Cardstock, Authentique patterned papers, and metallic Recollections cardstock.
To take advantage of the Bigz capability, I used the Garden Greens Bigz #659436 die with corrugate to play up my attempt this Christmas to contrast rustic and gilded elements in our home decor. I pressed the die-cuts into a white pigment ink pad to make them “snowy.”
The rest of the wreath is simply looped bunches of wide ribbons and strips of burlap, keeping in line with my rustic/gilded them this year. I also inserted some delicate frosted berry bunches to carry the red throughout.
