Hello, friends! For some time now, I’ve been meaning to join the Artist Trading Block movement and finally, I’m here! I recently picked up some tools to get myself started, including a great cube die from Sizzix, and am now envisioning interesting cubes set out here and there, amassed as a centerpiece, or filling a beautiful bowl. The ideas are flowing as they always seem to do when I work from our Vegas home. Must be some good feng shui here, as I’ve already finished another very different one that I posted about here! The project I have for you today is part of a hop that we are having with Clearsnap and Fancy Pants. Aren’t these papers yummy?
For this block, I used a lovely patterned paper collection from Fancy Pants called, “Burlap & Bouquets.” It’s a wonderfully comforting collection, filled with muted, rich tones that are perfect for autumn crafting.
What’s great about these blocks is that each surface is an opportunity to make a small, but complete composition. And there’s a new challenge of bringing each composition together into a unified three dimensional whole.
This stuff is a joy to blend, which makes it great for distressing/antiquing. It is very fast drying as well, which is a great quality when you have a project that you want to pick up and handle right away! Whereas two dimensional pieces of artwork are most often “hands-off,” these cubes ask you to engage, to pick them up and turn them around.
I hope you enjoyed my share today. For more inspiration, please visit the talented crafters participating in our hop today, starting with…
