A Quartet of Cards

Hi friends!

I have FOUR projects to share with you today that I just made from ONE 6×6 pad of “Vintage Blue” papers from Glitz Design.  These days, I’m very much interested in that distressed, vintage look, and have also been messing around with shabby chic.  I’ve been hoarding the Glitz that I do own and salivating over the Glitz that I don’t.  But as autumn rolls in, the days in Vegas become fresh and the leaves that have fallen crackle beneath my feet, I find myself drawn to my vintage papers and am beginning to craft entirely in these comforting styles.  Picked up this gorgeous older collection, perfect for the season, and will probably use it until it’s all gone.  It’s so interesting to take pause and notice how nature and the changing seasons affect our sensibilities.  I’m sure the changes affect us in ways that we can’t comprehend just yet.

Anyway, I made this one first.

Dang it – I can’t share the full project with you until it posts to the Hampton Art blog in November.  But I promise the rest will be full shots.

Here’s the second.  Left some open space on this one to allow the gorgeous papers to shine.

I used my Sizzix Flower, 3-D Fringed Die for the bloom and finally found in this card the perfect opportunity to use this gorgeous button I’ve been holding onto.

The border punch used for the cream colored strip is a Martha Stewart Double Loops Punch.  The stylized font on the sentiment just makes me happy and came from an Inkadinkado Mini Expressions set that I got last year.

For the third card, I incorporated one of the more country-style patterns in the pad.

See what I’m talking about – these distressed, vintage patterns make you want to cozy up under an old quilt with a steaming mug of hot cocoa!  For the bloom,

I used two of the three fringed shapes that come in the same Bigz die and found a great button from the Crate Paper Storyteller range to go in the center. The stamps for this one came from a TPC set that was also picked up last year, heavily discounted after the holiday season had passed – love the bold, period patterns in that one.  I think they match the “Americana” feeling in the patterned papers perfectly!

For the fourth card, I decided to switch orientations and go vertical using stamps from both of the aforementioned sets.

Those stylized acorns were stamped across a strip of ochre from this “Vintage Blue” range.  And the punched edges came from an EK Success Moroccan border punch.

Ahhhhh deep sigh!  Somehow, only after ravaging and exploiting my 6×6 pad do I feel like I now deserve to dig into pieces of the new Glitz collections I’ve recently acquired!  What the heck is that all about? Perhaps a little cra cra lol?
