Loving Color

Friends, I have been using a ton of color in my projects recently.  I seriously believe that something positive happens in our bodies when we really take in color, through our eyes, through all our senses.  I’ve been doing some more scrapbooking recently – it’s helping me be present and work through some personal tragedy, but most of all, appreciate the many many blessings in my life.  I am starting to feel at ease with the large 12 x 12 format. And I’m using tons of media.

In my own artistic journey, I’m most excited lately about the ease I’m feeling with mists and paints and the effects I’ve been able to come up with.  Today I have a few stamped projects on the Hampton Art blog with details, instructions, and materials listed over there – hope you’ll stop by.  Here’s one card in which I manipulated my mists to create a feeling of sunset.

NUTS NUTS NUTS about veining!  Whether created with hot glue or mists or whatevah!!!!  Here’s a detail of the simple yet dramatic stamp I used.  See the solitary bird? Mmm mmm mmm!

And here’s a layout (more details at Hampton Art) that I did of my wire-y furry baby, who I’ve realized in the last week or so, has somehow secured herself in Alpha position in our family…  ummm, she’s only 7 lbs!  So funny and so full of infectious joy.

Lots of color mixing here, too.

Isn’t she adorable?!!!  I used rather new Hampton Art/Echo Park stamps, one of my oldest and beloved Sizzix dies, and some Core’dinations as well.

Hope you will be able to stop by the Hampton Art blog today!

It’s Anything Goes over at Simon Says Stamp, so I’m going to give it a shot with these projects!

P.S. Thanks for your kind words, friends, following my bad news.  When I read your comments, I feel your support and I feel better, too.  I’m grateful for you.

  1. I really have enjoyed and learned from your work since I found you on U tube. Thank you for sharing your art and yourself with us. I am 70 and life is as exciting ,challenging and glorious as it is painful and heart breaking at times as it is for us all but I believe if I remain hopeful through God and involved in LIFE in its vibrancy I remain hungry for more of the wonders each day brings. I hope this brings you comfort at your youthful “approaching40” age . My greetings wing their way from U.K.

  2. Love both your projects. Love the colors too. I know I always say I love your projects, but it’s true. You’re one of my favorite artists and I think your style is unique. Thanks for the inspiration.

  3. Vivian my jaw dropped to the floor when I first viewed your card. WOW!!! It is gorgeous. I haven’t even visited the Hampton Arts blog yet, I just had to tell you how amazingly beautiful that card is. The page with your baby doggy is beautiful, your baby is very cute. What breed is your cute little baby? I am so very glad that our words of support on your last post were uplifting for you. Thank you for sharing your art and inspiration, you inspire me to take risks and think outside the box and use colour in amazing ways.

  4. Hi Vivian. The thumbnail of your card really grabbed my attention and I just had to hop on over to your blog to check it out! LOVE LOVE the colors and the blended, splattered runs and so forth. The card background is beautiful and I really think it’s fabulous how you just stamped the twigs and birds on the one corner, leaving the colors to speak for themselves. Matting on black was a stroke of genius! Gorgeous! I also love your layout of your sweet little dog. The blasts of color against the stark white is stunning. Thanks so much for sharing your card and layout with us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. ❤ Candy

  5. So very cool backgrounds! Love the color explosion! Stunning! Thank you so much for joining us at Simon Says Stamp and Show. Hugs, Sandra

  6. I really love your you tube videos. Thank you so much for sharing your art. You are my main source of inspiration lately. Totally love the hot glue gun vascularities. I hope whatever is challenging you will settle soon. My heart goes out to you.

  7. May the universal wisdom and light continue to guide through any difficult times. I understand what you are saying about being present and how this work and the color helps with that. Your art is so beautiful and I can not wait to try some of your techniques! Blessings, Cindy
